Hi, my name is Karina Chaparro. I am a sophomore at Spry Community Links High School. Our school educates and supports potential Latino leaders in our community. Unfortunately, there is not always enough in the budget to support our students to meet all of their needs. We, therefore, are calling on our community to support us as we join State Farm in promoting National Teen Safe Driving Week. State Farm has a contest wherein teachers, students, business leaders and all community members may pledge to drive safely during October 18 – 26, 2013 on behalf of Spry Community Links High School. The school with the most pledges wins a grant of up to $100,000 while we also promote safe driving.
Did you know that in Chicago alone 583 people have died in car accidents? Of these, 164 of those people were teens and 150 of those people were teens who caused the accident. Celebrate My Drive brings together all communities to help recognize and encourage teens to discover the benefits of safe choices behind the wheel. This includes saving our youth from poor driving habits like texting or drinking while driving which can cause fatal accidents.
Together, you can help our school win a grant of $25,000, $100,000, and/or a concert with Kelly Clarkson for the community. Today, school budgets are lean and Spry Community Links High School could really use your help. Please pledge DAILY starting October 18th until October 26th. The more pledges made on our behalf is counted as a vote for our school to win the grant. As we are a small school, we would invite you to forward this email to others you know who agree that safe driving is a priority and would partner with us to help win $100,000 on behalf of our community school.
Our school can win the grant using it to give our students a better learning environment and many more opportunities. Your help will go a long way for our little school of future Latino leaders! Please help our school, help our community, and help yourself! Keep our roads safe, and remember: 2n2, 2 hands on the wheel, 2 eyes on the road.
