David Miguel and Jesus Almaraz featured in a Yo Deportes story about their awesome skill on the soccer pitch. David led his team, Deportivo Chicago, to victory with six goals on Sunday! Jesus scored two goals. Brayan also scored a goal, and Jorge (our goalie) got 5 saves. Say congratuations to each of them!

Senator Dick Durbin, Chairman of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, held a Senate subcommittee hearing at Phoenix Military Academy on May 19th. CLHS students were in attendance as Durbin urged the House to allow immigration reform. Specifically, he advocated for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) through military enlistment.
The May 2nd, 2014 issue of the Chicago Tribune features letters written by several CLHS students. Please congratulate Martin Padilla, Mia Lugo, Daisy Gonzalez and Ashley Rodriguez and engage them on their thoughts about the future of education in Chicago.

Using Spry Community Links High School, a successful three-year CPS district high school, work with teachers to create a community school best-practice support Blog, and learn how this work unfolds in the classroom.
