CLHS In Lights at United Center

posted Dec 9, 2013, 6:22 PM by Mr Sidarous   [ updated Dec 9, 2013, 6:23 PM ]

CLHS up in lights at the Bulls Arena. The DECA club attended the Illinois Foundation for Marketing Education Chicago Bulls event. Students were able to hear from several of the Bulls' organization top executives, such as:

-Steve Schanwald-Executive VP of Business Operations

-Michelle Harris-Director of Game Entertainment

Jeremy Thum-Director of Interactive Marketing

-Chris Kirk-Director of Analytics

-Josh Kahn-Bulls TV Producer

-Alli Rivera-Ticket Representative, hardest job of all.

Students were most impressed with Chris Kirk, the Director of Analytics. He is from a small, rural town in the Midwest and graduated from a school much like our own without the same amount of students. The fascinating fact about Chris is that he scored 1560 from the SAT in which there are 1600 possible points. He also had a 4.997 GPA. He graduated from Princeton for his undergrad and went to Harvard for his MBA. This is a very bright man. His job is to analyze ticket sales, food sales, souvenir sales, etc. and determine trends and keep the stadium full. He suggested that if marketing is an interest in college, one must take statistics and psychology to interpret human behavior and spending habits. It seems that information is key in big business and data rules.

Thank you for supporting DECA.

Congratulations to the CLHS Yearbook Team!

posted Aug 28, 2013, 7:13 AM by Mr Sidarous

Congratulations to Ms. Moroni, Mr. Moore and all the students who worked on the 2012-2013 Yearbook. Our school has been named a winner of the prestigious Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence award!

Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year – in May for yearbooks delivered in the spring and in September for yearbooks delivered in the fall. The Award was presented to the (name of school) yearbook program for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.

“Jostens believes passionately in the importance of the yearbook tradition connecting every student to the school story and the school year and we are honored to recognize these yearbook programs,” said Mike Wolf, director, Yearbook Marketing, Jostens. “We understand that a great yearbook program does not just happen, and we are dedicated to helping schools strengthen their programs by providing the tools and personal guidance for success. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes schools that embrace the yearbook tradition and have built a yearbook program that serves the entire school community.”

The CLHS yearbook program will receive a plaque to display in the yearbook area and a banner to display in school, so the entire school community will be aware of the outstanding achievement.
